Cutch Extract, Acacia catechu, Natural Dye

Catechu is also known as cachou, cutch, cashoo, Terra Japonica, khoyer, or Japan earth.
It is an extract produced by boiling the wood in water and evaporating the resulting brew.
It is made from of any of several species of Acacia, but especially Acacia catechu.
Sold under the name Cutch, it is a mixture that is high in natural vegetable tannins and may be used for the tanning of animal hides and for preserving fishing nets and sails.
Cutch will dye wool, silk, and cotton a yellowish-brown.

Yarns dyed with different mordants are left to right Alum,Tin, Chrome, and Iron.

This is an extract similar to instant coffee and will dissolve in water.
Enough to dye more than two pounds of dry fiber
