This is Logwood Extract.
It is similar to instant coffee in nature.
Simply add the extract to your dye pot and stir.
You do not need to extract the dye.
A little goes a long way.
Logwood is an important historical dye.
It grows as a tree in the Caribbean.
The colors it gives are beautiful deep purples and blues depending on the amount of dye, mordant used, and water ph. Mordants used in yarn samples in the picture are as follows: alum, tin, iron.
Because of amount of dye used in our yarn samples,the differences and true colors will not show up in the picture.
We have added another picture to show a piece woven with different mordants and then dyed in logwood, yielding different colors.

There should be enough extract to dye 2 plus pounds of dry fiber depending on the depth of color desired.
The item purchased is 1/2 oz. logwood extract packed in the jar in the picture.
