The Himalayan mountains are the source for the pink salt, which can range from white to deep red, depending upon mineral and iron levels.
Himalayan salt supposedly richer in minerals than ordinary table salt, because it contains over 84 minerals including calcium, potassium and magnesium.
It is believed to be the purest form of salt on Earth.
Himalayan pink salt is hand mined from sea salt deposits from ancient sea beds,therefore it does not contain the pollutants found on the earth's surface.
