Also known as Damar Gum, like other resins, it can only be dissolved in alcohol.
Dammar is the sap from the family of trees, Dipterocarpaceae, that grow in East Asia and India. It is collected by tapping the treas, collecting the sap, and allowing it to dry in pieces or balls.
It is used in foods, making incenses, and in varnishes.
It is also used to raise the melting temperature of beeswax.
