Washing Soda, Sodium Carbonate, Natural Dye Assist
Also known as Sal Soda, or Soda Ash, it is used in dyeing as an assist especially with indigo vat dye to help make indigo soluble in water, according to an indigo dye recipe by Palmy Weigle in a Brooklyn Botanical Garden Dye book.
It is also used for degreasing and washing wool and other items.
It is alos used to set Jacquard Procion Dyes for plant fibers, which we also stock.

As with all mordants- use in well ventilated room, wear protective clothing and gloves, dispose of properly.
