Jacob Wool Yarn on Cone, Natural Color Black
Spun from our finest Jacob Fleece raised in the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania, our sheep wore coats year round to protect the wool from damage and contamination.
The Jacob breed of sheep has been known since ancient times. It is white with black spots, 2, 3 or 4 horned, that takes it's name from the Biblical story of Jacob. It has been depicted in medieval paintings and drawings.
This yarn was custom spun for us 2 ply, at approx 1200 yards per pound finished thickness.
Black wool was separated out of the multicolor fleece to produce a soft natural black yarn
Suitable for use on size 4 though 8 knitting needles.
This is the same yarn listed in 4 oz, skeins.
However, the coned yarn still contains spinning oil and will have to be washed( fulled) to fluff like the 4 oz. skeins that have been washed.
We do have more cones of this yarn, see drop down for weight and prices.
Each cone is a different weight, or you may purchase the already washed yarn in 4 oz skeins.
